This entirely handmade one of a kind illuminated manuscript contains renowned Constantine P Cavafy’s 'Longings' from Collected Poems 1896-1933.

Constantine P. Cavafy was widely considered the most distinguished Greek poet of the twentieth century.

This illuminated manuscript is handwritten in Greek minuscule perlschrift (based on the style in the late Byzantine era), with hand drawings on high quality paper (emulating parchment paper) using a dip pen (metal nib) and acrylic ink.

It bears the original signature of the artist, date and place created, as well as a small gold colored Capricorn stamp seal.

An autograph note written in Greek and English is attached to this illuminated manuscript with information about the script, materials used, source of text and illustrations, and any other Additional Information: considered necessary by the artist regarding authenticity.

A lot of time, care and effort were involved to create this exceptional illuminated manuscript masterpiece so there is a very limited production capacity.

Κ. Π. Καφάβης Επιθυμίες 'Σὰν σώματα ὡραῖα νεκρῶν ποῦ δὲν ἐγέρασανκαὶ τἄκλεισαν, μὲ δάκρυα, σὲ μαυσωλεῖο λαμπρό,μὲ ρόδα στὸ κεφάλι καὶ στὰ πόδια γιασεμιὰ —ἒτσ’ ἡ ἐπιθυμίες μοιάζουν ποῦ ἐπέρασανχωρὶς νὰ ἐκπληρωθοῦν ˚ χωρὶς ν’ ἀξιωθεῖ καμιὰτῆς ἡδονῆς μιὰ νύχτα, ἢ ἕνα πρωὶ της φεγγερό.
 

The English text translation:

C.P. Cavafy Longings' Like the beautiful bodies of those who died before they had aged,sadly shut away in a sumptuous mausoleum,roses by the head, jasmine at the feet —so appear the longings that have passedwithout being satisfied, not one of them granteda night of sensual pleasure, or one of its radiant mornings.'
